Physiotherapy Services in Redruth
We run the service from Harrow in north-west London; there is no Redruth premises to walk into. Sessions take place in your own home, and the clinician assigned to you may be travelling in from elsewhere. We can only confirm a visit once we know your full postcode and which therapists are free when you get in touch.
Redruth was once the centre of the richest copper mining district in the world, and the landscape around it is part of the Cornwall and West Devon Mining World Heritage Site. Engine houses and chimney stacks stand across the surrounding fields. William Murdoch, the pioneer of gas lighting, lit his house on Cross Street with gas in the 1790s, and Carn Brea, with its monument and castle, rises above the town.
Fore Street, the main shopping street, slopes steeply through the centre. Housing includes miners' cottages and Victorian terraces, where a steep staircase and a step up from the pavement are common, post-war estates in Plain-an-Gwarry and Tolgus, and newer developments on the edges. Lanner, Carharrack and St Day are former mining villages with similar homes.
The Great Flat Lode trail and the Mineral Tramways paths give long, mostly level routes through the mining landscape, and Carn Brea is a harder goal with wide views. The small Victoria Park, a short walk from Fore Street, suits early practice on gentle paths. Murdoch Day each June brings stalls and parades to the town centre, and many families hope an older relative can stand and watch again. Redruth station has trains to Truro, Penzance and London, and buses link the town with Camborne and Falmouth.
Most hospital care is at the Royal Cornwall Hospital in Truro, run by Royal Cornwall Hospitals NHS Trust, with community services at Camborne Redruth Community Hospital at Barncoose. NHS Cornwall and Isles of Scilly commissions services. We visit privately and fit around your care.
