Physiotherapy Services in Saltburn-by-the-Sea
We run the service from Harrow in north-west London; there is no Saltburn-by-the-Sea premises to walk into. Sessions take place in your own home, and the clinician assigned to you may be travelling in from elsewhere. We can only confirm a visit once we know your full postcode and which therapists are free when you get in touch.
Saltburn-by-the-Sea is a seaside town in Redcar and Cleveland, built by the Victorians on the cliffs above a long sandy beach. It was planned in the 1860s by Henry Pease of the Stockton and Darlington Railway.
The town is famous for its cliff tramway, opened in 1884 and still powered by water. It is the oldest working water-balanced cliff lift in Britain and saves a steep climb from the pier.
The pier is the last surviving pleasure pier on the Yorkshire coast. Its level deck and the flat promenade beneath the cliffs are ideal for steady walking practice.
The so-called jewel streets, named after gems such as Ruby, Emerald and Diamond, run in straight lines towards the sea. Most of them are gently sloping and have good pavements.
Most surgery in this area takes place at the James Cook University Hospital in Middlesbrough. Once you are home, a physiotherapist can continue your treatment there.
The Valley Gardens and Italian Gardens follow a wooded valley down to the shore. Their paths include some steep sections, so we choose routes to match your stage of recovery.
Many Victorian terraces have tall staircases, deep steps and basements. We work on these features carefully so that you can manage every level of your home.
Marske-by-the-Sea, to the west, has a long beach and a flat seafront road. New Marske, inland, is mainly modern housing with gentle streets.
Brotton and Carlin How lie on higher ground to the east, close to the old ironstone mining areas. Skelton, to the south, has a castle and a busy high street.
Huntcliff, east of the town, rises high above the sea with the Cleveland Way along its top. That path is a demanding goal best kept for the final stage.
