Physiotherapy Services in Sowerby Bridge
We run the service from Harrow in north-west London; there is no Sowerby Bridge premises to walk into. Sessions take place in your own home, and the clinician assigned to you may be travelling in from elsewhere. We can only confirm a visit once we know your full postcode and which therapists are free when you get in touch.
Sowerby Bridge is a small town in Calderdale, West Yorkshire, where the River Ryburn flows into the Calder. It grew as a mill town, and the meeting of two canals made it an important inland port.
The Rochdale Canal joins the Calder and Hebble Navigation at the canal basin, ringed by restored stone warehouses. The towpaths from here are flat and are among the best walking routes in the valley.
Tuel Lane Lock, reopened in 1996, is the deepest canal lock in Britain. Watching narrowboats pass through it is a popular reason for a short stroll from the town centre.
Wharf Street and Town Hall Street form the main shopping area along the valley floor. Away from the river, most streets climb steeply, which shapes the walking goals we set.
Most surgery in this area is carried out at Calderdale Royal Hospital in Halifax. When you leave, we can continue your rehabilitation in your own home on the hillside.
Terraced houses here are often built into the slope, with front doors on one level and back doors a storey lower. We practise the stairs and steps that each layout demands.
Norland sits on the moor edge above the town, reached by steep lanes. Clients living up there often keep the walk down to the canal as a long-term target.
Sowerby, on the opposite hillside, is an older village with a large Georgian church. Its streets are quieter, though the climb up from the valley is demanding.
Triangle and Ripponden lie up the Ryburn valley to the south-west. Ripponden's old packhorse bridge and riverside give a gentle spot for short walks.
Luddenden Foot and Mill Bank are small communities along the valley, with stone cottages and narrow lanes. Indoor programmes are especially helpful there in winter.

Safe, structured recovery after surgery to restore strength, mobility and function at home.

Expert assessment and treatment of muscle, joint, bone and soft tissue (MSK) conditions at home.

Helping active people recover from sports injuries and safely return to sport and performance.
