Physiotherapy Services in St Austell
We run the service from Harrow in north-west London; there is no St Austell premises to walk into. Sessions take place in your own home, and the clinician assigned to you may be travelling in from elsewhere. We can only confirm a visit once we know your full postcode and which therapists are free when you get in touch.
St Austell is the largest town in mid Cornwall and grew around the china clay industry that shaped the landscape to the north. Old spoil heaps, known locally as the Cornish Alps, still rise above the town, and the Eden Project was built in a former clay pit nearby. The Clay Trails now give level, traffic-free paths across that former industrial land.
The town is hilly, and many streets around Bethel, Mount Charles and the centre are steep. Housing includes granite terraces and cottages built for clay workers, large post-war estates in Boscoppa and Carclaze, and newer developments around Holmbush and Trewoon. Bungalows are common for older residents, especially in villages such as Penwithick and around the coast.
Charlestown, the Georgian harbour just to the south, is a popular walking goal, though the approach roads are steep, and Carlyon Bay and Porthpean have coastal paths. Poltair Park and the White River Place shopping area give level options nearer the centre. St Austell station is on the main Cornish line, with trains towards Truro, Plymouth and London.
St Austell Community Hospital at Penrice provides community and rehabilitation services, and most surgery and emergency care is at the Royal Cornwall Hospital in Truro or Derriford in Plymouth. NHS services are planned by the Cornwall and Isles of Scilly Integrated Care Board. Our physiotherapists are independent, so share any precautions or exercises from the hospital and we will continue them.
