Stapleford is a town in the borough of Broxtowe in Nottinghamshire, on the western edge of Greater Nottingham close to the Derbyshire border. It developed as a framework knitting and lace-making community before growing into a busy suburban town.
The Hemlock Stone, a weathered sandstone pillar about nine metres tall, stands on the slopes of Stapleford Hill and has drawn visitors for centuries. In the churchyard of St Helen's stands a carved Anglo-Saxon cross shaft, one of the oldest monuments in the county.
The Erewash Canal runs along the western side of the town towards Sandiacre and Long Eaton, with a level towpath beside the water. Derby Road and Nottingham Road hold the main shops, and Archer Road recreation ground gives open space nearby.
Housing includes Victorian terraces near the centre, inter-war and post-war semis and newer estates towards Toton. Bungalows are common on several quieter roads, while older terraces often have a steep staircase.
NHS Nottingham and Nottinghamshire Integrated Care Board commissions care. Stapleford patients are usually treated at the Queen's Medical Centre or Nottingham City Hospital, and we continue their rehabilitation privately at home after discharge.
Buses run frequently along Derby Road into Nottingham and out towards Ilkeston, and the Nottingham tram terminates at nearby Toton Lane. Typical aims include walking to the Derby Road shops, along the Erewash towpath or up to the Hemlock Stone.
The canal towpath between Stapleford and Sandiacre is flat and quiet, so it is a dependable route for steadily adding to walks after a knee or hip operation.
The path up to the Hemlock Stone rises steeply through trees, so we treat it as a later target and rehearse slopes and uneven ground first.

Assessment and treatment of the pelvic floor to support bladder, bowel and core function.

Supporting people living with or recovering from cancer to rebuild strength and quality of life.

Personalised, evidence-based nutrition and dietetic support delivered in the comfort of your home by an HCPC-registered dietitian.
