Physiotherapy Services in Stourbridge
We run the service from Harrow in north-west London; there is no Stourbridge premises to walk into. Sessions take place in your own home, and the clinician assigned to you may be travelling in from elsewhere. We can only confirm a visit once we know your full postcode and which therapists are free when you get in touch.
Stourbridge is famous for glass. The Stourbridge Glass Quarter stretches from Amblecote to Wordsley, where the Red House Glass Cone still stands beside the canal, and glassmaking has gone on in the area for centuries. The town centre is enclosed by a tight ring road, and getting across it on foot means subways or crossings that can feel daunting after surgery.
The southern side of the town, around Pedmore, Norton and Old Swinford, has many larger interwar and post-war houses with long front gardens and steps up to the door. Wollaston and Amblecote have Victorian terraces, and Lye mixes older terraces with newer infill. We look at the stairs, steps and entrances you deal with every day and practise those first.
Mary Stevens Park, with its lake and bandstand, is a popular target for a first longer walk, and the Stourbridge Canal towpath offers a level route through the Glass Quarter. Stourbridge Junction station has frequent trains to Birmingham, and the short branch line shuttle to Stourbridge Town is one of the shortest railway lines in Britain, which some patients enjoy using as a practice trip.
Most hospital care is provided at Russells Hall Hospital in Dudley, and NHS services are planned by the Black Country Integrated Care Board. Our physiotherapists work independently in people's homes, and we can build on any exercises or precautions you were given after an operation or a fall.
