Physiotherapy Services in Stratton
We run the service from Harrow in north-west London; there is no Stratton premises to walk into. Sessions take place in your own home, and the clinician assigned to you may be travelling in from elsewhere. We can only confirm a visit once we know your full postcode and which therapists are free when you get in touch.
Stratton is an ancient market town in north Cornwall, tucked in a valley a short way inland from Bude. Long before the seaside resort grew up, Stratton was the main settlement of this corner of the county.
In 1643 a Civil War battle was fought on Stamford Hill, just above the town, when Royalist Cornish troops defeated a Parliamentarian army. A plaque and earthworks mark the site today.
The Tree Inn is linked with Anthony Payne, a famous Cornish giant who was born there and fought in the battle. His story adds colour to the narrow streets around the inn.
St Andrew's Church, with its tall granite tower, overlooks the old centre. The streets nearby are steep and cobbled in places, so we start with gentler routes.
Stratton has a small community hospital, while most surgery is carried out at the Royal Cornwall Hospital in Truro or North Devon District Hospital in Barnstaple. Home visits keep your recovery on track afterwards.
Many homes are old cottages with steep stairs and thick walls, along with newer estates on the hillsides. Each layout shapes the exercises we choose.
Bude, a short way west, has a level canal towpath and a long sea wall. The canal path is one of the best places nearby for steady walking practice.
Poughill and Flexbury lie on the higher ground north of Bude, with quiet residential streets and views of the sea.
Marhamchurch, to the south, is a hilltop village with a green and a church. Its lanes are hilly and suit clients later in recovery.
Launcells and Kilkhampton lie inland among farmland. Clients in these outlying places often begin with safe movement in the house and garden.
