Physiotherapy Services in Tewkesbury
We run the service from Harrow in north-west London; there is no Tewkesbury premises to walk into. Sessions take place in your own home, and the clinician assigned to you may be travelling in from elsewhere. We can only confirm a visit once we know your full postcode and which therapists are free when you get in touch.
Tewkesbury, in north Gloucestershire, sits where the River Avon flows into the Severn. Its huge Norman abbey, with one of the largest Romanesque towers in Europe, survived the Dissolution because the townspeople bought it from Henry VIII for £453. The town is famous for its timber-framed buildings and narrow alleys running off Church Street and the High Street.
In 1471, the Battle of Tewkesbury saw the Yorkists defeat the Lancastrians in the Wars of the Roses, and a medieval festival now marks the anniversary each summer. The river meadows, especially the Ham, flood often, and in 2007 the Abbey stood almost like an island amid the floodwater, an image seen around the world.
Paths by the river and across the meadows are flat but can be soft or waterlogged in winter. The town centre is level, though many old buildings have steps and narrow doorways. Thomas Telford’s Mythe Bridge carries the road north over the Severn, and Ashchurch for Tewkesbury station sits on the eastern edge of town.
NHS Gloucestershire, the integrated care board, plans services. Most people go to Gloucestershire Royal or Cheltenham General for surgery and emergencies, with some care at Tewkesbury Community Hospital. Our private physiotherapy at home follows on from any of these.
Patients often want to walk to the Abbey for services or concerts, browse the High Street shops or stroll by the river. We plan around these goals, helping with stairs in older houses and building the stamina needed for the town centre and its alleys.

Helping active people recover from sports injuries and safely return to sport and performance.

Rehabilitation of bones, joints, muscles and ligaments following injury, surgery or degenerative change.

Support to improve breathing, endurance and recovery for respiratory and cardiac conditions.
