Physiotherapy Services in Turriff
We run the service from Harrow in north-west London; there is no Turriff premises to walk into. Sessions take place in your own home, and the clinician assigned to you may be travelling in from elsewhere. We can only confirm a visit once we know your full postcode and which therapists are free when you get in touch.
Turriff is a market town in Aberdeenshire, set above the River Deveron and the Idoch Water in rich farming country. Its red sandstone buildings and broad Square give it a solid, prosperous feel, and agriculture still shapes daily life here.
In 1913 a local farmer refused to pay the new National Insurance stamp for his workers, and his white cow was seized and put up for sale. The Turra Coo, as it became known, escaped the auction amid riotous scenes, and a life-size statue of the cow now stands in the town as a symbol of its stubborn independence.
The Turriff Show each August is one of the largest agricultural shows in Scotland, drawing livestock, machinery and crowds to the Haughs, the flat riverside park that also hosts football, a caravan site and gentle walking paths. Delgatie Castle, home of the Clan Hay, stands in woodland just north-east of town.
Housing includes granite and sandstone villas, Victorian terraces, post-war council homes and newer estates on the edges of town. Many patients live on farms or in scattered cottages, where farmyard steps, uneven ground and long drives all feature in rehabilitation planning.
NHS Grampian provides local services. Turriff Hospital offers some community care, while surgery and emergencies take place at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary, a long journey for many families. Home visits make continuing therapy far easier.
Local goals include strolling the Haughs, visiting the Turriff Show, or getting back to the farm work people have done for decades.
