Physiotherapy Services in Wallsend
We run the service from Harrow in north-west London; there is no Wallsend premises to walk into. Sessions take place in your own home, and the clinician assigned to you may be travelling in from elsewhere. We can only confirm a visit once we know your full postcode and which therapists are free when you get in touch.
Wallsend sits on the north bank of the Tyne in North Tyneside, and it takes its name from the eastern end of Hadrian's Wall. The remains of Segedunum Roman fort stand near the river, with a museum and viewing tower. For more than a century the town was dominated by shipbuilding, including the Swan Hunter yard that built the liner Mauretania.
Much of the housing is Tyneside flats and terraces near the river and centre, where ground-floor and upstairs flats share a frontage and the upstairs flat has its own steep stair. Battle Hill, Hadrian Park and Holy Cross are larger twentieth-century estates with semis and bungalows. Wallsend Green, the old village centre, has older houses around a green and can make a pleasant short walk.
The Tyne and Wear Metro stops at Wallsend, Hadrian Road and Howdon, and the Forum shopping centre is close to the main station. Many people want to manage the Metro again to reach Newcastle or the coast. The Rising Sun Country Park, to the north, has lakes, woodland and long paths, and Richardson Dees Park is a smaller, closer option.
North Tyneside General Hospital in North Shields provides many planned and outpatient services, and serious emergencies go to the Northumbria Specialist Emergency Care Hospital in Cramlington. NHS planning is through the North East and North Cumbria Integrated Care Board. Our physiotherapists work independently, so share any precautions or exercises you were given and we will carry them on.
