Whitland is a small market town in the west of Carmarthenshire, set in the valley of the River Taf close to the Pembrokeshire border. Its Welsh name is Hendy-gwyn ar Daf.
In the tenth century, the Welsh king Hywel Dda gathered lawmakers here to set down the laws of Wales. The Hywel Dda Centre and its garden mark this important event.
The garden is laid out in sections, each representing a part of the old laws. Its paths are level and quiet, which makes it a calm place for early walks.
The ruins of Whitland Abbey, a Cistercian house founded in the twelfth century, lie in fields north of the town. It was once one of the most important abbeys in Wales.
St John Street, the main road through the centre, has shops, chapels and pubs. It is fairly flat, so it suits steady outdoor walking practice.
Glangwili Hospital in Carmarthen and Withybush Hospital in Haverfordwest carry out much of the surgery for this area. Our team supports you at home afterwards.
Whitland grew as a railway junction, where the line to Pembroke Dock branches away. Many clients set a goal of travelling by train again.
The town was also known for its large creamery, once a major local employer. Dairy farming still shapes life in the surrounding countryside.
Many homes are terraced houses with steep stairs, along with bungalows and farmhouses. We adapt every plan to the home you live in.
Llanboidy and Login lie in the hills to the north. Red Roses, Tavernspite and Llanddewi Velfrey are villages to the south and west.
Our therapists can support Welsh-speaking families and keep exercise plans simple. We focus on what each client needs for daily life.

Helping older adults maintain mobility, strength and independence safely at home.
