Physiotherapy Services in Windermere
We run the service from Harrow in north-west London; there is no Windermere premises to walk into. Sessions take place in your own home, and the clinician assigned to you may be travelling in from elsewhere. We can only confirm a visit once we know your full postcode and which therapists are free when you get in touch.
Windermere is a town in the Lake District, set on the slopes above the eastern shore of the lake of the same name. Windermere is the largest natural lake in England.
The town grew up after the railway arrived in 1847, bringing visitors from the industrial north. Before that, the area was little more than a hamlet called Birthwaite.
Orrest Head, a viewpoint just behind the station, gives one of the finest views of the lake. Alfred Wainwright said his first visit there changed his life.
The path up Orrest Head is steep but short. It makes a rewarding goal for clients well into their recovery.
Crescent Road and Main Road form the town centre, with shops, cafés and outdoor stores. They slope noticeably, which gives useful practice on gradients.
Westmorland General Hospital in Kendal and the Royal Lancaster Infirmary handle much of the surgery for this area. Our therapists visit you at home afterwards.
Bowness-on-Windermere, down the hill, sits on the lake shore with piers, boats and promenades. The lakeside paths there are mostly level.
Lake steamers and launches run from Bowness to Ambleside and Lakeside. Stepping on and off a boat safely is a goal many clients set.
Many homes are Victorian stone villas and cottages with steep stairs, set on hillsides. We plan stair and slope work around each house.
Troutbeck Bridge and Troutbeck lie to the north, while Storrs is on the lake shore to the south. Ings and Staveley line the road towards Kendal.
Many clients here love walking in the fells. We build strength and balance steadily so that hills become manageable again.

Specialist care for women through pregnancy, after birth and beyond.

Reducing the risk of falls and improving safe, confident movement at home and in the community.

Assessment and treatment of the pelvic floor to support bladder, bowel and core function.
