Physiotherapy Services in Worsbrough
We run the service from Harrow in north-west London; there is no Worsbrough premises to walk into. Sessions take place in your own home, and the clinician assigned to you may be travelling in from elsewhere. We can only confirm a visit once we know your full postcode and which therapists are free when you get in touch.
Worsbrough lies on the southern edge of Barnsley, a cluster of former pit villages including Worsbrough Village, Worsbrough Bridge and Worsbrough Dale. The old village, around St Mary's church and the Edmunds Arms, still feels rural.
Worsbrough Mill, a seventeenth-century working watermill, still grinds flour and is now a museum. The country park around it, with a reservoir and woodland, is a favourite local walk.
The reservoir, built in 1804 to feed the Dearne and Dove Canal, has a path round it that is mostly level with some rooted sections. Walking from the mill car park to the dam and back is a common first target.
Worsbrough falls under NHS South Yorkshire Integrated Care Board, and Barnsley Hospital on Gawber Road is where most residents are treated. Our private home sessions can pick up where the hospital or community team finishes.
Worsbrough Dale and Worsbrough Bridge have steep roads down to the River Dove, lined with stone and brick terraces that once housed miners from the Barrow and Wombwell Main collieries. Front steps and tight staircases are typical.
The Dove Valley Trail follows the old Worsbrough Bank railway incline, once one of the steepest in Britain, and now offers a gently graded, traffic-free path. It suits longer walks once someone is confident outside.
Worsbrough Common and Kendray sit closer to Barnsley town centre, with regular buses to the interchange. Ward Green has a small parade of shops that is often an early goal.
Birdwell, beside junction 36 of the M1, is near Wentworth Castle Gardens, whose parkland is a favourite day out for families.
