Physiotherapy Services in Adlington
We run the service from Harrow in north-west London; there is no Adlington premises to walk into. Sessions take place in your own home, and the clinician assigned to you may be travelling in from elsewhere. We can only confirm a visit once we know your full postcode and which therapists are free when you get in touch.
Adlington grew from spinning mills, bleach works and small coal pits between Chorley and Bolton, sitting at the foot of the West Pennine Moors. Rivington Pike and the reservoirs at Anglezarke rise just to the east.
Lord Leverhulme, the soap magnate from Bolton, bought much of the Rivington estate and gave Lever Park to the public. His ruined bungalow gardens, pigeon tower and replica of Liverpool Castle draw walkers from Adlington every weekend.
The Leeds and Liverpool Canal curves through town past the White Bear Marina, where narrowboats moor beside the towpath. That level path is a popular walking route for people regaining fitness.
Railway Road and Market Street hold the main shops, takeaways and pharmacy. Adlington station on the line between Preston and Manchester gives residents easy access to both cities.
Chorley and South Ribble Hospital, Royal Preston Hospital and Royal Bolton Hospital all treat Adlington people, depending on the condition. Wherever surgery takes place, we can continue care at home.
Many homes are Victorian terraces with steep stairs and rear yards, while newer estates on the edge of town have open plan layouts. We adapt the plan to whichever kind of property you live in.
Heath Charnock and Anderton are quieter, with farms and lanes climbing towards the moors. Rivington's Lever Park and terraced gardens are a favourite outing once someone is stronger.
Winter weather off the moors can be wet and windy, so we discuss safe footwear and sensible outdoor plans as well as exercise.
