We can only confirm a visit once we know your full postcode and which therapists are free when you get in touch.
Alton is a market town in East Hampshire at the source of the River Wey, surrounded by rolling chalk farmland. Brewing shaped its fortunes for centuries, and older residents still remember the smell of malting drifting over the streets from the Courage brewery.
St Lawrence Church still bears musket-ball marks from the Battle of Alton in 1643, when Parliamentarian troops stormed the building during the Civil War. Jane Austen wrote her later novels in the nearby village of Chawton, and her house there is now a museum that brings visitors from around the world.
The Mid Hants Railway, better known as the Watercress Line, runs steam trains from Alton to Alresford. The Flood Meadows beside the Wey and the Kings Pond nature area offer flat grassy paths close to the centre, while the Curtis Museum and the Allen Gallery sit near the top of the High Street.
Housing includes Georgian and Victorian streets close to the centre, post-war estates such as Anstey and Wooteys, and larger newer developments on the edges. Many patients live in villages like Four Marks, Beech or Holybourne, where hills and narrow lanes can make walking outside more demanding.
NHS Hampshire and Isle of Wight Integrated Care Board plans services here. Alton Community Hospital offers some rehabilitation and outpatient clinics, while surgery and emergency care usually take place at Basingstoke and North Hampshire Hospital. We continue rehabilitation at home once patients are discharged.
Common goals include strolling down the High Street on Tuesday market day, enjoying a steam trip on the Watercress Line, or managing the slope from Anstey up to the shops without stopping.

Reducing the risk of falls and improving safe, confident movement at home and in the community.

Assessment and treatment of the pelvic floor to support bladder, bowel and core function.

Supporting people living with or recovering from cancer to rebuild strength and quality of life.
