Physiotherapy Services in Arbroath
We run the service from Harrow in north-west London; there is no Arbroath premises to walk into. Sessions take place in your own home, and the clinician assigned to you may be travelling in from elsewhere. We can only confirm a visit once we know your full postcode and which therapists are free when you get in touch.
Arbroath is the largest town in Angus, on the North Sea coast between Dundee and Montrose. It is best known for the ruined abbey, where the Declaration of Arbroath was written in 1320, and for the Arbroath smokie, a haddock smoked over hardwood in the fishing quarter near the harbour.
The fit o' the toon, the old fishing area around the harbour, has small stone cottages with steep stairs, while Keptie and the streets above the High Street have larger Victorian villas. Hayshead, Warddykes and Cliffburn include post-war council estates and newer homes, many built on slopes rising from the shore.
The seafront promenade and Victoria Park are flat and open, good places to start walking outdoors again. Keptie Pond, with its distinctive water tower, has a short level circuit, and the red sandstone cliff path north to Auchmithie gives a demanding target for those who have recovered well.
Ninewells Hospital in Dundee, run by NHS Tayside, provides most surgery and emergency care, and Arbroath Infirmary offers some local services and rehabilitation. Community rehabilitation is arranged through the Angus Health and Social Care Partnership. Our service is private and separate from both, and any discharge information you can share is useful.
Arbroath station sits on the line between Aberdeen and Edinburgh, with regular trains to Dundee, and buses serve the surrounding villages. Many people we see here want to walk to the harbour or the High Street again, or to manage the stairs of a traditional stone house.
