Physiotherapy Services in Ashbourne
We run the service from Harrow in north-west London; there is no Ashbourne premises to walk into. Sessions take place in your own home, and the clinician assigned to you may be travelling in from elsewhere. We can only confirm a visit once we know your full postcode and which therapists are free when you get in touch.
Ashbourne is a Georgian market town in the Derbyshire Dales, often called the gateway to the Peak District. Dovedale and the limestone hills lie just to the north, and the town itself is full of old inns, antique shops and narrow yards.
Each Shrovetide the town plays its famous Royal Shrovetide Football, a two-day game with goals three miles apart and hundreds of players. Even residents who no longer join in like to stand on the street and watch the ball go by.
The sloping Market Place, Dig Street and St John Street hold most of the shops, and Church Street leads to St Oswald's, whose slender spire George Eliot admired. Ashbourne gingerbread is still sold in the town, and a trip to buy some is a cheerful goal for many clients.
Royal Derby Hospital handles most surgery and emergency care for the area, and St Oswald's Hospital in Ashbourne provides community services. We can continue rehabilitation privately once you are back in your own home.
The Tissington Trail begins on the edge of town, following the old railway line north through a tunnel and out into open countryside. Its firm, gently graded surface makes it perfect for building walking stamina.
The town is built on a hillside sloping down to Henmore Brook, so many streets have a noticeable gradient. Practising slopes, kerbs and steps is often part of our programme.
Homes range from Georgian terraces with tall staircases to newer estates and bungalows in Clifton and on the edges of town.

Rehabilitation of bones, joints, muscles and ligaments following injury, surgery or degenerative change.

Support to improve breathing, endurance and recovery for respiratory and cardiac conditions.

Helping people living with persistent or complex pain improve function and quality of life.
