Barton-upon-Humber is a market town in North Lincolnshire, on the south bank of the Humber Estuary at the southern end of the Humber Bridge. It was once one of the main crossing points to Hull by ferry.
St Peter's Church, cared for by English Heritage, has an Anglo-Saxon tower over a thousand years old. The Ropewalk, a former rope factory a quarter of a mile long, is now an arts centre and gallery.
Waters' Edge Country Park, created on old clay pits beside the Humber, has level paths, ponds and a visitor centre. The Humber Bridge viewing area gives dramatic views of the estuary.
Housing includes Georgian and Victorian houses in the old town, terraces, post-war estates and newer homes on the outskirts. Narrow lanes in the old centre can be a challenge.
NHS Humber and North Yorkshire Integrated Care Board commissions care. Barton patients are usually treated at Scunthorpe General, or across the estuary at Hull Royal Infirmary, and we continue rehabilitation at home.
Barton station is the end of the line to Cleethorpes, and buses cross the bridge to Hull. Typical aims include walking to the town centre, round Waters' Edge or to the bridge viewpoint.
Waters' Edge paths are flat and firm with benches, so they suit people rebuilding stamina after surgery.
The Ropewalk has a long level indoor gallery, which makes it a useful wet-weather target during recovery.

Reducing the risk of falls and improving safe, confident movement at home and in the community.

Assessment and treatment of the pelvic floor to support bladder, bowel and core function.

Supporting people living with or recovering from cancer to rebuild strength and quality of life.
