Physiotherapy Services in Batley
We run the service from Harrow in north-west London; there is no Batley premises to walk into. Sessions take place in your own home, and the clinician assigned to you may be travelling in from elsewhere. We can only confirm a visit once we know your full postcode and which therapists are free when you get in touch.
Batley is a town in Kirklees, West Yorkshire, which grew in the nineteenth century as the centre of the shoddy trade, recycling woollen rags into new cloth. Grand stone mills and warehouses still line the streets around the town centre, and the Batley Variety Club once attracted national stars. The market place and Commercial Street are fairly compact, but the ground around them is far from flat.
Many homes are stone terraces built on steep hillsides, especially around Mount Pleasant, Healey and Hanging Heaton. These houses often have steps up to the front door and narrow internal stairs. Upper Batley and Birstall have more interwar and post-war semis, and newer estates have been built on old mill land. The hills mean we often build slope practice into a programme quite early.
Wilton Park, with the Bagshaw Museum in a Victorian mansion, has paths and gardens that make a good walking goal, though some routes are steep. Oakwell Hall in Birstall has level gardens and country park walks. Batley station has trains to Leeds and Huddersfield, and the Birstall retail park is a common shopping trip.
Dewsbury and District Hospital, part of the Mid Yorkshire Teaching NHS Trust, provides many services for Batley, with Pinderfields in Wakefield for major emergencies. NHS services are planned by the West Yorkshire Integrated Care Board. Our home visits are independent of the NHS, so we welcome any precautions or exercises from the hospital team and build on them.
