Physiotherapy Services in Blaenau Ffestiniog
We run the service from Harrow in north-west London; there is no Blaenau Ffestiniog premises to walk into. Sessions take place in your own home, and the clinician assigned to you may be travelling in from elsewhere. We can only confirm a visit once we know your full postcode and which therapists are free when you get in touch.
Blaenau Ffestiniog is a slate-quarrying town in the mountains of Gwynedd, surrounded by enormous slate tips. At its peak it supplied roofing slate across the world, and Llechwedd's slate caverns now welcome visitors underground.
The Ffestiniog Railway runs narrow-gauge steam trains down to Porthmadog, and the Conwy Valley line runs north to Llandudno. Both start at the station in the town centre.
The High Street is fairly level, but most residential streets climb steeply. We practise those slopes and the steps up to front doors early in recovery.
Blaenau Ffestiniog is within Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board. Surgery and emergency care are usually at Ysbyty Gwynedd in Bangor, with private rehabilitation at home available after that.
This is one of the wettest towns in Wales, so we always keep an indoor routine ready for rainy days.
Many homes are quarrymen's terraces with steep stairs. We work with those layouts and suggest simple changes where they help.
Welsh is the everyday language for most residents. Ask for Welsh when you contact us if that suits you better.
The town square was redesigned with slate sculptures and poetry carved into the paving, celebrating the community's Welsh-language culture. Antur Stiniog runs mountain bike trails on the old quarry tips, and Llyn Stwlan, the dam of the pumped storage scheme, sits high above Tanygrisiau, reached by a long and steep road. Moelwyn Mawr and the Cwmorthin valley, with its ruined chapel and abandoned quarry barracks, draw hill walkers from far away. Locally, Parc y Dre beside the leisure centre offers a level loop that is far kinder to a recovering knee, and the Co-op on the High Street is the everyday target most people set first.

Assessment and treatment of the pelvic floor to support bladder, bowel and core function.

Supporting people living with or recovering from cancer to rebuild strength and quality of life.

Personalised, evidence-based nutrition and dietetic support delivered in the comfort of your home by an HCPC-registered dietitian.
