Physiotherapy Services in Buxton
We run the service from Harrow in north-west London; there is no Buxton premises to walk into. Sessions take place in your own home, and the clinician assigned to you may be travelling in from elsewhere. We can only confirm a visit once we know your full postcode and which therapists are free when you get in touch.
Buxton is a spa town in the High Peak district of Derbyshire, set more than a thousand feet above sea level, which makes it one of the highest market towns in England. The Romans knew its warm springs as Aquae Arnemetiae, and the fifth Duke of Devonshire built the elegant Georgian Crescent in the 1780s to rival Bath. Buxton water, bottled from St Ann's Well, is sold across the country.
The Pavilion Gardens, with their iron-and-glass conservatory, lakes and level paths beside the River Wye, are the town's favourite place for a gentle walk. The Slopes, the terraced gardens rising behind the Crescent, offer a steeper challenge with views over the town. The Opera House, designed by Frank Matcham, hosts the Buxton International Festival each July.
Weather matters here. Buxton is known for snow arriving earlier and staying longer than in the surrounding lowlands, and ice on steep streets such as Terrace Road worries many people who have fallen before. We often build winter walking plans and advice on footwear and walking aids into rehabilitation.
Derby and Derbyshire Integrated Care Board plans NHS care. Buxton patients are often treated at Stepping Hill Hospital in Stockport or Macclesfield District General Hospital, with some services at Buxton Hospital. Our private home physiotherapy continues care once people are home.
Trains run from Buxton station down the line to Stockport and Manchester. Housing includes Victorian villas, stone terraces and post-war estates at Harpur Hill and Fairfield. Strolling through the Pavilion Gardens, walking up Spring Gardens to the shops or getting to a performance at the Opera House are common aims.

Reducing the risk of falls and improving safe, confident movement at home and in the community.

Assessment and treatment of the pelvic floor to support bladder, bowel and core function.

Supporting people living with or recovering from cancer to rebuild strength and quality of life.
