Physiotherapy Services in Chirk
We run the service from Harrow in north-west London; there is no Chirk premises to walk into. Sessions take place in your own home, and the clinician assigned to you may be travelling in from elsewhere. We can only confirm a visit once we know your full postcode and which therapists are free when you get in touch.
Chirk is a small border town in Wrexham county, where the Ceiriog valley meets the Dee. Its canal aqueduct and the taller railway viaduct beside it cross the valley side by side, a famous sight.
The town centre around Church Street is compact and fairly level. Walking to the shops and back is a good early goal.
The Llangollen Canal towpath crosses the aqueduct and passes through the Chirk Tunnel. The towpath is level, and crossing the aqueduct is a memorable milestone.
Chirk Castle, a National Trust medieval fortress, stands in parkland on the hill west of the town. Its gardens and estate paths suit later stages of recovery.
Chirk is covered by Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board. Surgery usually takes place at Wrexham Maelor Hospital, while orthopaedic operations are often done at the Robert Jones and Agnes Hunt Orthopaedic Hospital in Oswestry, just over the border.
Offa's Dyke Path passes nearby, and the Ceiriog valley has beautiful but hilly lanes. These are for more advanced walkers.
Homes include older terraces with steep stairs and newer estates. We adapt exercises to your home.
Indoor work is always included for wet weather.
Holy Trinity Church at Chirk Bank and St Mary's on Church Street serve the two sides of the border, while the Ceiriog Memorial Institute at Glyn Ceiriog keeps valley clubs going. The Glyn Valley Tramway, which once carried slate and granite down the valley, has a small heritage centre at Glyn Ceiriog, and parts of its old route are walkable. The Black Park colliery and the local timber works shaped the town's working life, and many residents still have family ties to them. The Hand Hotel on Church Street is a long-standing meeting place where getting in and out of chairs and up the step is a natural test.

Reducing the risk of falls and improving safe, confident movement at home and in the community.

Assessment and treatment of the pelvic floor to support bladder, bowel and core function.

Supporting people living with or recovering from cancer to rebuild strength and quality of life.
