Physiotherapy Services in Christchurch
We run the service from Harrow in north-west London; there is no Christchurch premises to walk into. Sessions take place in your own home, and the clinician assigned to you may be travelling in from elsewhere. We can only confirm a visit once we know your full postcode and which therapists are free when you get in touch.
Christchurch lies where the Stour and the Avon meet before flowing into Christchurch Harbour, on the eastern edge of the Bournemouth conurbation. The great Priory church, the ruined castle and the Norman house give the old centre its character, and the town has one of the oldest populations in England.
Many residents live in bungalows and retirement flats, particularly in Highcliffe, Friars Cliff and Mudeford, while Purewell, Jumpers Common and Somerford have a mix of semis and post-war homes. Ground-floor living is common here, so goals often focus on getting outside, managing a step at the patio door or walking to the shops.
The quay and the riverside paths around the priory are flat and well served with benches, and Stanpit Marsh offers a gentle nature trail. Further east, the promenade at Mudeford and the cliff-top paths at Highcliffe give longer, breezier routes once confidence and stamina return.
The Royal Bournemouth Hospital, run by University Hospitals Dorset NHS Foundation Trust, is where most residents are treated after a fracture, stroke or operation, and Christchurch Hospital provides some community services. NHS care is planned by NHS Dorset, the Integrated Care Board. Our visits are private and independent of these services.
Christchurch station has trains to Bournemouth, Southampton and London, and buses run frequently along the main road through Purewell and Somerford. Many people here simply want to get back to the high street, the Saturday market or a walk by the harbour with friends.
