Physiotherapy Services in Chudleigh
We run the service from Harrow in north-west London; there is no Chudleigh premises to walk into. Sessions take place in your own home, and the clinician assigned to you may be travelling in from elsewhere. We can only confirm a visit once we know your full postcode and which therapists are free when you get in touch.
Chudleigh is a small town in Teignbridge between Exeter and Newton Abbot, on the edge of Dartmoor. Much of it was rebuilt after a great fire in 1807, giving it a largely Georgian centre.
Fore Street and the town centre are compact and fairly level. Walking to the shops and back is a good early aim.
Chudleigh Rocks, a limestone outcrop just south of the town, has caves and woodland paths by the Kate Brook. The paths are steep and rocky, so they suit later stages.
Ugbrooke House and Park, a stately home nearby, has landscaped grounds by Capability Brown. Visiting on open days is a pleasant outing.
Chudleigh patients usually go to the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital or Torbay Hospital for surgery and emergencies. Home physiotherapy can continue once you are back.
The Teign valley and Haldon Forest offer longer walks once you are stronger. Haldon has well-surfaced forest tracks.
Homes include Georgian houses with steep stairs and newer estates. We adapt exercises to your home.
Indoor work is always included for wet weather.
St Martin and St Mary's Church, at the top of the town, has a churchyard with sloping paths, while the Town Hall hosts clubs and markets. Chudleigh Knighton Heath, a nature reserve to the south, has flat, sandy tracks through heathland that are good for longer walks. Kate Brook flows below the Rocks to the Glen, where a waterfall and woodland make a peaceful later target. Many people from Chudleigh go to Newton Abbot for shopping, and getting on and off the bus is a goal we can rehearse together. The Ugbrooke estate lanes give quiet countryside for building stamina, and the annual carnival brings crowds to Fore Street.
