Physiotherapy Services in Conwy
We run the service from Harrow in north-west London; there is no Conwy premises to walk into. Sessions take place in your own home, and the clinician assigned to you may be travelling in from elsewhere. We can only confirm a visit once we know your full postcode and which therapists are free when you get in touch.
Conwy is a medieval walled town at the mouth of the River Conwy, dominated by the castle Edward I built in the 1280s, now a World Heritage Site. Almost the full circuit of the town walls survives, and parts can be walked, though the steps up are steep and narrow. Inside the walls the streets are compact, with Plas Mawr on the High Street and the smallest house in Great Britain on the quay.
The old town is a challenging place to recover. Lanes are narrow, some are cobbled, and the ground rises from the quay up towards the station and Upper Gate Street. Many cottages and terraces within the walls have steep internal stairs. Outside the walls, Gyffin, Marl and the streets across the river at Deganwy and Llandudno Junction have more modern homes and bungalows.
The quay and the path along the estuary towards the RSPB reserve are level and open, and Telford's suspension bridge beside the castle is a short, popular walk. Conwy station sits inside the walls, while Llandudno Junction is the main interchange for the North Wales Coast Line. We often plan practice walks around the quay before tackling slopes or steps in the old town.
Health care is provided by Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board, the Local Health Board for North Wales. Ysbyty Glan Clwyd in Bodelwyddan is the main acute hospital for the area, and Llandudno General Hospital provides planned surgery and rehabilitation. We work independently of NHS Wales, so share any information from the hospital and we will build on what has already been started.
