Physiotherapy Services in Cowes
We run the service from Harrow in north-west London; there is no Cowes premises to walk into. Sessions take place in your own home, and the clinician assigned to you may be travelling in from elsewhere. We can only confirm a visit once we know your full postcode and which therapists are free when you get in touch.
Cowes is a seaside town at the mouth of the River Medina on the north coast of the Isle of Wight, facing Southampton Water across the Solent. It is famous worldwide as a yachting centre and hosts the Cowes Week regatta each August.
The narrow High Street winds along the waterfront with chandlers, cafés and independent shops. The Parade and Princes Green give a flat seafront walk past the Royal Yacht Squadron towards Egypt Point and Gurnard.
Northwood Park, around the Regency Northwood House, offers lawns, woodland and views over the Solent. The chain ferry, known as the Floating Bridge, crosses the Medina to East Cowes and Osborne beyond.
Housing ranges from Georgian and Victorian terraces on steep lanes near the harbour to inter-war semis, bungalows in Gurnard and modern estates inland. Steep hills up from the waterfront are a common challenge.
NHS Hampshire and Isle of Wight Integrated Care Board commissions care, and the Isle of Wight NHS Trust runs St Mary's Hospital in Newport, where Cowes patients are usually treated. We continue rehabilitation privately at home.
Red Funnel's Red Jet and car ferries connect Cowes with Southampton, and buses run to Newport and Ryde. Typical aims include walking along the Parade, up the High Street or round Northwood Park.
The Parade and Princes Green are flat and lined with benches, so they make an ideal first outdoor walk after an operation.
Hills such as Market Hill are steep, so we practise slopes and kerbs before tackling the walk back up from the seafront.
