Physiotherapy Services in Downham Market
We run the service from Harrow in north-west London; there is no Downham Market premises to walk into. Sessions take place in your own home, and the clinician assigned to you may be travelling in from elsewhere. We can only confirm a visit once we know your full postcode and which therapists are free when you get in touch.
Downham Market is a small town on the edge of the Fens in west Norfolk, sometimes called the gingerbread town because many of its older buildings are made of dark brown carrstone. The local stone gives the streets a warm, distinctive colour.
A cast-iron clock tower, put up in 1878, stands in the Market Place and is the town's main meeting point. Around it are the shops, cafés and the weekly market that draw people in from the surrounding villages.
The River Great Ouse and the Relief Channel run just west of the town, with raised banks offering long, open views across the Fens. These embankment paths are mostly flat, though they can be exposed to the wind.
Horatio Nelson is said to have attended school here briefly, and the town has many Georgian and Victorian houses near the centre. Newer estates of bungalows and family homes have grown on the eastern side towards Bexwell.
Downham Market comes within NHS Norfolk and Waveney Integrated Care Board. Patients from the town are usually admitted to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in King's Lynn, and we offer private rehabilitation at home to help them recover after they leave.
The station on the Fen Line, with its Victorian building, connects Downham Market with King's Lynn, Ely and Cambridge. Common aims are walking to the Market Place, managing the station steps and visiting friends nearby.
In Denver, the historic sluice and the restored windmill make interesting destinations, while Wimbotsham's village green and quiet lanes suit people taking their first longer strolls.
Many homes in Hilgay and Stow Bardolph are set back on farm tracks, so we focus on getting in and out of vehicles and using walking aids safely on uneven ground.

Reducing the risk of falls and improving safe, confident movement at home and in the community.

Assessment and treatment of the pelvic floor to support bladder, bowel and core function.

Supporting people living with or recovering from cancer to rebuild strength and quality of life.
