Physiotherapy Services in Erskine
We run the service from Harrow in north-west London; there is no Erskine premises to walk into. Sessions take place in your own home, and the clinician assigned to you may be travelling in from elsewhere. We can only confirm a visit once we know your full postcode and which therapists are free when you get in touch.
Erskine is a Renfrewshire town on the south bank of the Clyde, linked to the north shore by the high, sweeping Erskine Bridge, which opened in 1971. Before that, a car ferry crossed the river here. The modern town was planned as an overspill settlement for Glasgow from the 1970s, and most of its neighbourhoods, Park Mains, Bargarran and Craigton, were built in that period with footpaths separating people from traffic.
Bridgewater Shopping Centre is the focus for everyday shopping, and the riverside walkway beside the Clyde gives long views of the bridge and the Kilpatrick Hills. Erskine is also home to Erskine, the veterans' charity founded in 1916 as the Princess Louise Scottish Hospital, whose care home and gardens sit beside the river.
The town's network of segregated footpaths and underpasses is useful for walking practice, though some routes have slopes and ramps that tire people quickly at first. Bishopton, to the west, has grown rapidly on the site of the former Royal Ordnance Factory, now the Dargavel Village development.
NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde provides local services, working with Renfrewshire Health and Social Care Partnership. Erskine patients are usually treated at the Royal Alexandra Hospital in Paisley or the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow. Our private home physiotherapy continues care after discharge.
Erskine has no station of its own, so buses to Paisley and Glasgow and the trains from Bishopton are important. Housing is mainly 1970s and 1980s terraced and semi-detached homes, with many two-storey houses and some flats.
