Physiotherapy Services in Forfar
We run the service from Harrow in north-west London; there is no Forfar premises to walk into. Sessions take place in your own home, and the clinician assigned to you may be travelling in from elsewhere. We can only confirm a visit once we know your full postcode and which therapists are free when you get in touch.
Forfar is the county town of Angus, set in the fertile Strathmore valley between the Sidlaw Hills and the Angus glens. It is famous for the Forfar bridie, a horseshoe-shaped meat pastry sold by local bakers. Glamis Castle, childhood home of the Queen Mother, stands a few miles to the south-west, and the ruins of Restenneth Priory lie just outside the town.
The town centre has Victorian sandstone buildings and terraces, while post-war estates and newer housing spread around the edges. Many homes have stairs and steps at the front, and some streets slope gently towards the loch.
Forfar Loch Country Park has a flat path all the way round the loch, popular with walkers and ideal for building stamina after surgery. The town lost its railway in 1967, so buses to Dundee, Arbroath and Kirriemuir are important.
NHS Tayside provides hospital care, with Ninewells Hospital in Dundee handling major and emergency treatment and Stracathro Hospital near Brechin offering many planned operations. Angus Health and Social Care Partnership arranges community services, and our private visits sit alongside them.
Many patients want to get back to walking round the loch, shopping in town or visiting family in the glens. We base sessions on those goals.
The Reid Hall was a gift to the town from Peter Reid, a local confectioner who made his fortune from a sweet known as Forfar Rock, and it remains the main venue for concerts and events. Forfar Athletic play at Station Park, and in winter large skeins of geese gather on the loch, a sight many walkers stop to watch from the benches.
