Physiotherapy Services in Hebburn
We run the service from Harrow in north-west London; there is no Hebburn premises to walk into. Sessions take place in your own home, and the clinician assigned to you may be travelling in from elsewhere. We can only confirm a visit once we know your full postcode and which therapists are free when you get in touch.
Hebburn sits on the south bank of the Tyne in South Tyneside, between Jarrow and Gateshead. For more than a century its identity was bound up with the Hawthorn Leslie shipyard, which built warships including the destroyer HMS Kelly, commanded by Lord Mountbatten in the Second World War. Coal mining at Hebburn Colliery was the other great employer, and many families still trace their roots to one or the other.
The yards have largely gone, and much of the riverside has been opened up as Hebburn Riverside Park, with grassland, woodland and paths looking across the water towards Walker and Wallsend. Most paths are gentle, though a few slopes drop towards the river. Wider audiences came to know the town through the BBC sitcom Hebburn, written by local comedian Jason Cook.
Housing is largely red-brick terraces, Tyneside flats with separate upstairs and downstairs doors, and big council estates at Campbell Park and Hedworth built after the war. Upstairs Tyneside flats often have a steep internal staircase straight from the front door, which can be one of the hardest parts of coming home after an operation.
North East and North Cumbria Integrated Care Board plans local NHS services, and Hebburn patients are usually treated at South Tyneside District Hospital in South Shields or at the Queen Elizabeth in Gateshead. We offer private home physiotherapy that continues the work started on the ward.
Hebburn and Pelaw Metro stations put Newcastle within easy reach, so practising platforms, lifts and getting on and off the trains is a frequent goal. Others want to walk to the shops on Station Road, the Riverside Park or a social club where they have spent many years.
