Physiotherapy Services in Johnstone
We run the service from Harrow in north-west London; there is no Johnstone premises to walk into. Sessions take place in your own home, and the clinician assigned to you may be travelling in from elsewhere. We can only confirm a visit once we know your full postcode and which therapists are free when you get in touch.
Johnstone is a Renfrewshire town on the Black Cart Water, a few miles west of Paisley. It was laid out as a planned village in the 1780s by the Houston family, and Houston Square, with its parish church, is still the civic centre. Cotton mills and later engineering, including the Clyde Pottery and the machine tool firms, gave the town its living through the nineteenth and twentieth centuries.
Elderslie, next door, is traditionally held to be the birthplace of William Wallace, and a memorial to him stands on the main road. Kilbarchan, just to the west, keeps a weaver's cottage run by the National Trust for Scotland and a statue of the piper Habbie Simpson in its steeple. These small places give local walks a strong sense of history.
The old railway line from Johnstone to Lochwinnoch is now part of National Cycle Route 7, a smooth, nearly flat path through farmland and past Castle Semple Loch. It is one of the best routes in Renfrewshire for building walking stamina in safety, well away from traffic.
NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde provides local health services alongside Renfrewshire Health and Social Care Partnership. Johnstone patients are usually treated at the Royal Alexandra Hospital in Paisley, and the community hospital in Johnstone offers some rehabilitation. Our private home physiotherapy continues that work once people return home.
Johnstone station has trains to Glasgow Central and Ayr. Housing ranges from sandstone tenements and cottage flats in the centre to post-war council estates at Spateston and Quarrelton. Tenement closes with stone stairs, and the climb up to the higher estates, shape a lot of what we practise with patients here.

Reducing the risk of falls and improving safe, confident movement at home and in the community.

Assessment and treatment of the pelvic floor to support bladder, bowel and core function.

Supporting people living with or recovering from cancer to rebuild strength and quality of life.
