Physiotherapy Services in Kelso
We run the service from Harrow in north-west London; there is no Kelso premises to walk into. Sessions take place in your own home, and the clinician assigned to you may be travelling in from elsewhere. We can only confirm a visit once we know your full postcode and which therapists are free when you get in touch.
Kelso is a market town in the Scottish Borders where the River Teviot joins the River Tweed. Its broad cobbled Square, one of the largest in Scotland, is lined with Georgian buildings and gives the town a distinctly continental feel.
The ruins of Kelso Abbey, founded in the twelfth century, stand close to the centre, and Rennie's Bridge, completed in 1803, carries the road across the Tweed. Floors Castle, home of the Dukes of Roxburghe, sits in parkland just west of the town.
Kelso Racecourse hosts jump racing through the winter, and the riverside path known as the Cobby runs from the bridge towards the Floors estate. The town also hosts the Border Union Show each summer.
Housing includes Georgian and Victorian townhouses near the Square, stone cottages, council-built estates and newer homes on the outskirts. Cobbled streets and stone steps can make walking harder after an injury.
NHS Borders and the Scottish Borders Health and Social Care Partnership provide statutory services. Kelso patients are usually treated at Borders General Hospital near Melrose, and we continue rehabilitation at home once someone returns.
Buses run to Galashiels, Jedburgh and Berwick, and Berwick-upon-Tweed and Tweedbank are the nearest stations. Common aims include walking across the Square, to the Abbey or along the Cobby beside the Tweed.
The Cobby path is level and runs beside the river with views of Floors Castle, so it is a popular target once someone can walk comfortably outdoors.
The cobbles in the Square can be tricky after a fall, so we practise balance on uneven ground and suggest the smoother pavements at first.

Reducing the risk of falls and improving safe, confident movement at home and in the community.

Assessment and treatment of the pelvic floor to support bladder, bowel and core function.

Supporting people living with or recovering from cancer to rebuild strength and quality of life.
