Physiotherapy Services in Leighton Buzzard
We run the service from Harrow in north-west London; there is no Leighton Buzzard premises to walk into. Sessions take place in your own home, and the clinician assigned to you may be travelling in from elsewhere. We can only confirm a visit once we know your full postcode and which therapists are free when you get in touch.
Leighton Buzzard is a market town in Central Bedfordshire, joined to Linslade across the River Ouzel and the Grand Union Canal. The High Street, with its fifteenth-century Market Cross and the tall spire of All Saints Church, has a long, gently sloping run of shops. The town has grown steadily, with large new estates on its eastern side.
Older streets near the centre have Victorian terraces and cottages with steep stairs, while Linslade and Southcott have a mix of interwar and post-war houses and bungalows. The newer estates feature family homes and town houses. We look at the layout of your own house and the route to the shops, and practise the parts you find hardest.
The Grand Union Canal towpath gives a long, level route through the town, and Tiddenfoot Waterside Park and Rushmere Country Park offer lakeside and woodland walks. The Leighton Buzzard Narrow Gauge Railway, a heritage line, is a fun goal for some patients. Leighton Buzzard station, in Linslade, has trains to London Euston and Milton Keynes.
Most hospital care is provided at the Luton and Dunstable University Hospital or Milton Keynes University Hospital. NHS services are planned by the Bedfordshire, Luton and Milton Keynes Integrated Care Board. We visit independently and can follow on from any physiotherapy you started in hospital.
Sand quarrying shaped the land north of the town, which is why the narrow gauge line exists at all: it was built to carry sand from the pits at Double Arches. Several old quarries are now lakes and nature reserves. Tuesday and Saturday markets still fill the High Street, and the Leighton Buzzard Library and Theatre is a regular outing for many older residents.
