Physiotherapy Services in Lymington
We run the service from Harrow in north-west London; there is no Lymington premises to walk into. Sessions take place in your own home, and the clinician assigned to you may be travelling in from elsewhere. We can only confirm a visit once we know your full postcode and which therapists are free when you get in touch.
Lymington is a Georgian market town in the New Forest district of Hampshire, on the Lymington River where it meets the Solent. For centuries it was a centre of salt-making, with salt pans along the marshes. Today it is a yachting town, with large marinas and the Wightlink ferry to Yarmouth on the Isle of Wight.
The High Street, lined with Georgian buildings, climbs from the cobbled Quay up to St Thomas's Church and hosts a Saturday market that has run since the thirteenth century. The cobbles of Quay Street are hard work after surgery. The sea wall path along the Lymington and Keyhaven Marshes nature reserve is flat, with views to the Needles.
Housing includes Georgian townhouses, Victorian villas, bungalows and post-war estates at Pennington and Buckland. Retired people make up a big share of Lymington's residents, and falls, joint replacements and recovery after stroke are among the most common reasons people contact us.
Hampshire and Isle of Wight Integrated Care Board plans NHS services. Lymington patients are often treated at the Royal Bournemouth Hospital or Southampton General Hospital, with some services at Lymington New Forest Hospital. Our private home physiotherapy continues their recovery.
Lymington Town and Lymington Pier stations connect to Brockenhurst for trains to London and Bournemouth. Patients often want to walk up the High Street, visit the Saturday market or stroll along the sea wall.
Lymington's cobbled Quay Hill leads down to the harbour, where Wightlink ferries cross to Yarmouth on the Isle of Wight. The Saturday market fills the broad High Street, and the St Barbe Museum tells the story of the town's salt-making past. The Lymington and Keyhaven Marshes nature reserve has a sea-wall path with wide views of the Solent and wading birds, while the open-air sea water baths, among the oldest in the country, are a summer favourite for families.
