Physiotherapy Services in Malmesbury
We run the service from Harrow in north-west London; there is no Malmesbury premises to walk into. Sessions take place in your own home, and the clinician assigned to you may be travelling in from elsewhere. We can only confirm a visit once we know your full postcode and which therapists are free when you get in touch.
Malmesbury is a hilltop town in north Wiltshire, almost encircled by two branches of the River Avon. It claims to be the oldest continuously inhabited borough in England, and King Athelstan, the first king of all England, is buried here.
The great Norman abbey, partly ruined but still in use as a parish church, dominates the town. Its carved south porch is one of the finest examples of Romanesque sculpture in the country.
The octagonal market cross, at the top of the High Street, has been a meeting place for centuries. The High Street slopes down steeply towards the river, which can be a challenge for people with limited mobility.
Malmesbury falls under NHS BSW Integrated Care Board. Patients are usually sent to the Great Western in Swindon or the RUH, and our private visits can carry on rehabilitation once they are back home.
The Abbey House Gardens beside the abbey were famous for their roses, and the Athelstan Museum in the town hall tells the story of Eilmer, the monk who tried to fly from the abbey tower around 1010.
The riverside paths around the town are mostly level and offer peaceful walks, with views up to the abbey. They make good routes for building stamina.
Homes include old stone cottages with steep stairs, Victorian houses and modern estates on the outskirts. Many older properties have steps at the front door and narrow staircases.
Westport and Burton Hill lie below the hill. Climbing St John's Bridge and Gloucester Street to reach the shops is a key target for residents there.

Assessment and treatment of the pelvic floor to support bladder, bowel and core function.

Supporting people living with or recovering from cancer to rebuild strength and quality of life.

Personalised, evidence-based nutrition and dietetic support delivered in the comfort of your home by an HCPC-registered dietitian.
