Physiotherapy Services in Middlesbrough
Home Physio And Rehab is based in Harrow, north-west London, and has no clinic or office in Middlesbrough. Every appointment is a home visit, and the physiotherapist who visits you may be based elsewhere and travel to your home. Whether we can see you depends on your postcode and on therapist availability at the time you ask.
Middlesbrough grew rapidly in the Victorian era as an iron and steel town on the south bank of the Tees. Areas close to the centre, such as North Ormesby and parts of Linthorpe, are dominated by long rows of terraced houses with steep stairs, while Acklam, Marton and Nunthorpe have larger semis and detached homes, and Coulby Newham and Hemlington were built as planned estates from the 1970s.
The town is generally flat, with the Eston Hills and the Cleveland Hills rising to the south. Albert Park and Stewart Park both offer level paths and benches that suit a gradual walking plan. Our sessions start with moving safely around the home and move on to the outdoor routes you want to manage again, such as the walk to the bus stop or into Linthorpe Road.
James Cook University Hospital is a major trauma centre and the main hospital for the area, so many people come home after orthopaedic surgery, a stroke or a serious injury. We work independently of the hospital and of the NHS, so please share your discharge summary and any precautions when we first talk.
Middlesbrough's Transporter Bridge, a towering steel landmark over the Tees, says a great deal about the town's industrial past. Today the centre has the Cleveland Centre and Hill Street shopping areas, both largely level, and the Riverside Stadium, home of Middlesbrough Football Club. The Middlesbrough Institute of Modern Art sits in Centre Square, an open and step-free space with benches. Further south, Ormesby Hall and the villages of Great Ayton and Guisborough offer gentle outings on the edge of the North York Moors, with Roseberry Topping a famous hill that some people aim to climb again when they are much stronger.
