Physiotherapy Services in Newton Stewart
We run the service from Harrow in north-west London; there is no Newton Stewart premises to walk into. Sessions take place in your own home, and the clinician assigned to you may be travelling in from elsewhere. We can only confirm a visit once we know your full postcode and which therapists are free when you get in touch.
Newton Stewart is a market town on the River Cree in Dumfries and Galloway, often called the gateway to the Galloway Hills. It is a centre for walkers, anglers and cyclists.
Victoria Street, the main shopping street, runs parallel to the river. It is mostly level and suits early walks from the centre.
The Cree Bridge links the town with Minnigaff on the east bank. Crossing it and back is a practical early goal.
Riverside paths follow the Cree on both banks, with seats and views. They are ideal for gradually longer walks.
Dumfries and Galloway Royal Infirmary and the Galloway Community Hospital in Stranraer serve most patients. After discharge, we continue rehabilitation at home.
Homes include granite and whinstone villas with tall stairs, council terraces and modern bungalows on the outskirts. On our first visit we watch how you manage the stairs, the bath or shower and getting up from a low chair.
The Wood of Cree, an RSPB reserve, lies a short drive north up the valley. Its oak woodland paths, with pied flycatchers in spring, become a rewarding goal once uneven ground no longer feels risky.
Minnigaff, on the east bank, has an old roofless church and the Cumloden estate nearby, and Creebridge clusters around the bridge itself. Palnure lies to the south east, close to the Kirroughtree visitor centre.
Kirkcowan, west of the town, sits on the Tarff Water, and Bargrennan is up the valley on the Southern Upland Way. Wigtown, Scotland's national book town, holds a book festival each autumn that many clients like to reach again.

Specialist care for women through pregnancy, after birth and beyond.

Reducing the risk of falls and improving safe, confident movement at home and in the community.

Assessment and treatment of the pelvic floor to support bladder, bowel and core function.
