We run the service from Harrow in north-west London; there is no North Berwick premises to walk into. We can only confirm a visit once we know your full postcode and which therapists are free when you get in touch.
North Berwick is a seaside town in East Lothian, on the southern shore of the Firth of Forth. Its two sandy beaches, harbour and charming streets make it a popular destination, and many people retire here for the sea air and golf.
The Scottish Seabird Centre, by the harbour, offers views and boat trips to the Bass Rock, home to one of the world's largest gannet colonies. North Berwick Law, a volcanic hill topped by a whalebone arch replica, rises steeply behind the town and gives panoramic views.
Tantallon Castle, a dramatic clifftop ruin, lies just east of town, while Dirleton Castle and Gullane's beaches are a short drive west. The town is also known for the North Berwick witch trials of 1590.
Housing includes Victorian villas, stone terraces, post-war council homes and newer developments. Many older residents live in houses with stairs, which often become a focus of rehabilitation.
NHS Lothian provides local services. The Edington Hospital in North Berwick offers some community care, while surgery and emergencies usually take place at the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh. We continue rehabilitation at home.
Goals include walking along the beaches, climbing the Law or visiting the Seabird Centre again.
The Fringe by the Sea festival each August turns the harbour and the Lodge Grounds into a hub of music, comedy and talks, while the Lodge Grounds themselves offer level paths, an aviary and a walled garden close to Quality Street. The outdoor swimming pool on the harbour wall was filled in decades ago, but its outline is still visible, and the Glen golf course on the East Links has clifftop views towards Craigleith and the Lamb islands. Quality Street, Westgate and Forth Street hold delis, galleries and an independent bookshop that many residents visit weekly.
