Physiotherapy Services in Pittenweem
We run the service from Harrow in north-west London; there is no Pittenweem premises to walk into. Sessions take place in your own home, and the clinician assigned to you may be travelling in from elsewhere. We can only confirm a visit once we know your full postcode and which therapists are free when you get in touch.
Pittenweem is a fishing village in the East Neuk of Fife, with one of the busiest working harbours on this stretch of coast. Its name means place of the cave.
St Fillan's Cave, tucked into the cliff behind the harbour, was used by an early Christian hermit. The steep wynds leading to it are cobbled and narrow.
The harbour front is flat, with colourful houses and fishing boats. It is the best place in the village for an early outdoor walk.
Each August, the Pittenweem Arts Festival fills homes and galleries with visitors. Some clients set a goal of visiting a few exhibitions on foot.
Operations for the area are usually done at the Victoria Hospital in Kirkcaldy or Ninewells in Dundee. We then continue your rehabilitation at home.
The Fife Coastal Path runs east to Anstruther and west to St Monans. Its surface varies, with some rocky parts, so we pick sections that suit you.
Anstruther, with its fisheries museum and busy harbour, is just to the east. Its shore road is level and offers a longer walking route.
St Monans, to the west, has a windmill and an old church by the sea. The coastal path between the villages is a popular goal for fitter walkers.
Early each morning the fish market on the quay sells the overnight catch from local boats. Standing at the stalls and carrying a bag of fresh haddock home up the brae is a goal several clients have chosen for themselves.
Arncroach and Carnbee lie inland near Kellie Castle, among farmland. Rural roads there have no footways, so walking routes need careful choice.
