Physiotherapy Services in Anstruther
We run the service from Harrow in north-west London; there is no Anstruther premises to walk into. Sessions take place in your own home, and the clinician assigned to you may be travelling in from elsewhere. We can only confirm a visit once we know your full postcode and which therapists are free when you get in touch.
Anstruther is the largest of the East Neuk fishing towns on the Fife coast. Its harbour is surrounded by colourful houses, and the Scottish Fisheries Museum tells the story of the herring fleets that once crowded the quays.
The harbour front is level and busy, with benches and the famous fish and chip shops nearby. Walking along it is often the first outdoor goal we set for people recovering at home.
Boats leave the harbour in summer for the Isle of May, and the Fife Coastal Path runs east to Cellardyke and Crail. The coastal path is uneven in places, so we prepare carefully before longer stretches.
Anstruther is within NHS Fife. Surgery and emergency care are usually at the Victoria Hospital in Kirkcaldy, and private home physiotherapy can continue once someone has been discharged.
Many houses in the old town are tall and narrow with steep stairs, and wynds between streets are often stepped. We practise those exact stairs and steps.
Sea haar and wind can make the harbour cold even in summer. We plan walks and exercises around the weather and keep an indoor routine for poor days.
Cellardyke's harbour, a short way along the coast, is quieter and makes a good destination once stamina is building.
Cellardyke's old tolbooth and the cottages along John Street show how tightly the fishing families once lived, and many of those houses keep their original outside forestairs. Climbing a forestair with a shopping bag is a surprisingly specific skill, so we rehearse it with a hand on the rail and the heavier load left at the bottom.
