Physiotherapy Services in Pocklington
We run the service from Harrow in north-west London; there is no Pocklington premises to walk into. Sessions take place in your own home, and the clinician assigned to you may be travelling in from elsewhere. We can only confirm a visit once we know your full postcode and which therapists are free when you get in touch.
Pocklington is a small market town in the East Riding of Yorkshire, tucked beneath the western edge of the Wolds about halfway between York and Market Weighton. Its compact centre around Market Place and Railway Street is easy to explore on foot, and the weekly market still draws people in from the surrounding farms.
Burnby Hall Gardens, famous for one of the finest collections of hardy water lilies in Europe, are a short stroll from the centre. Two lakes, a museum of the Stewart family's travels and level gravel walks make the gardens a natural target for anyone rebuilding their walking after time in hospital.
William Wilberforce, the anti-slavery campaigner, was a pupil at Pocklington School, which was founded in 1514. The Pocklington Canal, a quiet rural waterway restored by volunteers, starts at Canal Head on the Hull road and has a grassy towpath rich in wildflowers and dragonflies through summer.
Homes include Georgian and Victorian houses near the church of All Saints, post-war council housing and a good number of newer estates on the edges of the town. Many residents live in villages such as Barmby Moor, Millington or Bishop Wilton, where lanes are narrow, pavements are scarce and the Wolds slopes begin almost at the back door.
NHS Humber and North Yorkshire Integrated Care Board organises local care. Most Pocklington patients go to York Hospital for surgery and emergency treatment. Our visiting physiotherapists carry on their rehabilitation at home, so families are spared repeated drives into York for outpatient appointments.
Ambitions we hear include admiring the water lilies at Burnby Hall in July, browsing the Tuesday stalls, or walking a stretch of canal towpath with the dog again.

Reducing the risk of falls and improving safe, confident movement at home and in the community.

Assessment and treatment of the pelvic floor to support bladder, bowel and core function.

Supporting people living with or recovering from cancer to rebuild strength and quality of life.
