Physiotherapy Services in Pontypool
We run the service from Harrow in north-west London; there is no Pontypool premises to walk into. Sessions take place in your own home, and the clinician assigned to you may be travelling in from elsewhere. We can only confirm a visit once we know your full postcode and which therapists are free when you get in touch.
Pontypool is the main town of Torfaen in south-east Wales. It was an early centre of the iron industry and became famous for japanned ware, a glossy lacquered tinplate made here in the eighteenth century.
Pontypool Park, beside the town centre, is a large Georgian parkland with an Italian garden, a shell grotto and the rugby ground. Its main avenues are wide and fairly level for gentle walking.
The indoor market hall, with its Victorian ironwork, sits at the heart of the town. Browsing the stalls under cover is a useful way to walk further without worrying about the weather.
The Folly Tower stands on the hill above the park and can be seen for a long way. The climb up to it is steep and rewarding, and some clients make it a final target.
Hospital care for Torfaen is now centred on the Grange University Hospital at Cwmbran and the Royal Gwent in Newport. After discharge, we visit you at home to continue recovery.
The Monmouthshire and Brecon Canal passes just east of the town near Pontymoile. Its towpath is level, quiet and lined with trees, making it one of the best routes nearby for building stamina.
Griffithstown and Sebastopol lie to the south, with long straight terraces and a flatter layout. Their pavements are good for short daily walks close to home.
Abersychan and Talywain climb up the valley to the north towards Blaenavon. Steep side streets and hillside homes mean leg strength and step practice are central to rehabilitation there.
Trevethin, on the hill west of the town, has one of the oldest churches in the area and views over the valley. Many homes there have sloping paths to the front door.
New Inn sits on the eastern slope, with mostly modern housing and gentle gradients. Short walks to local shops are a practical early outdoor task for clients living there.
