Physiotherapy Services in Portsmouth
Home Physio And Rehab is based in Harrow, north-west London, and has no clinic or office in Portsmouth. Every appointment is a home visit, and the physiotherapist visiting you may travel to your home from elsewhere. Whether we can see you depends on your postcode and on therapist availability at the time you ask.
Most of Portsmouth is built on Portsea Island, a low, flat island joined to the mainland by road bridges at its northern end. Southsea, Fratton, Copnor, Milton, Eastney, North End and Hilsea fill the island with closely packed streets, while Cosham, Drayton, Farlington and Paulsgrove lie on the mainland below Portsdown Hill. Portsmouth City Council is a unitary authority and arranges its own adult social care and equipment.
The island's flatness is a real advantage for recovery, but its housing is a challenge. Much of it is Victorian and Edwardian terraced housing with narrow hallways, a steep straight staircase, a small back yard and sometimes a step at every doorway. Bathrooms are often upstairs or added at the back of the house. Your physiotherapist works on those specific stairs, steps and tight turns, and can suggest simple changes that make daily routines safer.
Queen Alexandra Hospital in Cosham, on the mainland at the foot of Portsdown Hill, is the city's main acute hospital, and many people come home from there after planned surgery, a fracture, a stroke or an emergency admission. We are independent of the hospital and the NHS, and we do not receive your records, so please share your discharge letter and any precautions.
Level streets make walking goals easier to set. Southsea seafront and Southsea Common offer long, flat routes with places to rest, and the walk to a local corner shop or bus stop is often a first outdoor milestone. Coverage varies by postcode and therapist availability. Enter your postcode below to check current home-visit availability.
