Physiotherapy Services in Portsoy
We run the service from Harrow in north-west London; there is no Portsoy premises to walk into. Sessions take place in your own home, and the clinician assigned to you may be travelling in from elsewhere. We can only confirm a visit once we know your full postcode and which therapists are free when you get in touch.
Portsoy is a small coastal town in Aberdeenshire, on the Moray Firth between Banff and Cullen. Its old harbour dates from 1692, making it among the earliest along the Banffshire shore.
The town is known for Portsoy marble, a green serpentine stone once sent to the Palace of Versailles. A workshop by the harbour still cuts and polishes the stone for visitors.
Each summer the Scottish Traditional Boat Festival fills the harbour with wooden boats, music and food stalls. Many clients aim to walk around the festival site again.
The harbour area is flat but has old cobbles and uneven quay edges. We take care to choose safe routes there, especially in wet or windy weather.
Major surgery for this area takes place at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary or Dr Gray's in Elgin. Chalmers Hospital in Banff supports local care, and we visit clients in their own homes.
Seafield Street and the town square hold the shops, with steep streets falling towards the shore. The climb back up from the harbour is a useful test of leg strength.
Durn Hill rises behind the town and has an Iron Age fort on its summit. The path to the top is a challenging goal for fitter walkers later in rehabilitation.
Sandend, to the west, is a tiny village beside a sandy bay. The coastal path between the two villages has cliffs and steps, so we choose sections carefully.
Fordyce, inland, is a conservation village with a small castle and narrow streets. Its compact layout makes short daily walks easy to plan for clients there.
Cornhill and Crudie are rural communities to the south among farmland. Long driveways and farmyards are frequent challenges we help clients manage safely.

Helping people living with persistent or complex pain improve function and quality of life.

Specialist care for women through pregnancy, after birth and beyond.

Reducing the risk of falls and improving safe, confident movement at home and in the community.
