Physiotherapy Services in Poynton
We run the service from Harrow in north-west London; there is no Poynton premises to walk into. Sessions take place in your own home, and the clinician assigned to you may be travelling in from elsewhere. We can only confirm a visit once we know your full postcode and which therapists are free when you get in touch.
Poynton is a town in Cheshire East, between Stockport and Macclesfield, on the western edge of the Peak District foothills. It grew on coal mining from the eighteenth century, and the old pits have since become fields and woodland.
Poynton Pool, a lake on the edge of the centre, has a level path, benches and plenty of birdlife. The Middlewood Way, a traffic-free path on a former railway line, runs through Higher Poynton between Marple and Macclesfield.
The Macclesfield Canal passes Higher Poynton, and Lyme Park, the National Trust estate with its deer park, lies just to the east. Park Lane in the centre was redesigned as a well-known shared space for pedestrians and traffic.
Housing includes Victorian cottages from the mining days, many inter-war and post-war semis, large detached homes and newer developments. Bungalows are popular, and most roads in the centre are fairly level.
NHS Cheshire and Merseyside Integrated Care Board commissions care. Poynton patients are often treated at Macclesfield District General Hospital or Stepping Hill Hospital in Stockport, and we provide private physiotherapy at home after discharge.
Poynton station lies on the line between Manchester and Macclesfield, and buses run to Stockport and Macclesfield. Typical aims include the Park Lane shops, Poynton Pool or a stretch of the Middlewood Way.
The path around Poynton Pool is short, flat and well used, so it makes a reassuring first outdoor walk.
The Middlewood Way is level but long, so we set clear targets between bridges and benches as stamina builds.
