Physiotherapy Services in Queensferry
We run the service from Harrow in north-west London; there is no Queensferry premises to walk into. Sessions take place in your own home, and the clinician assigned to you may be travelling in from elsewhere. We can only confirm a visit once we know your full postcode and which therapists are free when you get in touch.
South Queensferry, usually just called Queensferry, sits on the southern shore of the Firth of Forth within the City of Edinburgh. Its name comes from Queen Margaret, who used the ferry crossing here in the 11th century on her way to Dunfermline.
Three great bridges dominate the view: the red cantilever Forth Bridge, now a World Heritage Site, the Forth Road Bridge and the newer Queensferry Crossing. Watching trains rumble across the old bridge from the shore is a favourite pastime for residents and visitors alike.
The High Street is unusual, with a raised terrace of shops and houses above the street level, reached by steps. That charming layout can be tricky after an operation, and the steep wynds running up from the shore add further climbs.
Port Edgar marina, the Hawes Inn by the water and the paths towards Dalmeny estate give flatter options. Hopetoun House and its grounds lie just to the west, and the coastal path to Cramond is popular with walkers.
NHS Lothian provides hospital care, and the Edinburgh Health and Social Care Partnership organises community services. Queensferry patients are usually treated at the Western General or the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh, and our private sessions take place at home afterwards.
Homes range from historic cottages near the shore to the big modern estates at Echline and Ferrymuir. Dalmeny station and frequent buses link the town with central Edinburgh, and getting back on them is a common aim.
The Queensferry Museum on the High Street tells the story of the ferry and the bridges, and the Ferry Fair each August, with the Burry Man walking the streets covered in burrs, is a much-loved local tradition that many patients want to see again.
