Physiotherapy Services in Rushden
We run the service from Harrow in north-west London; there is no Rushden premises to walk into. Sessions take place in your own home, and the clinician assigned to you may be travelling in from elsewhere. We can only confirm a visit once we know your full postcode and which therapists are free when you get in touch.
Rushden is a former boot and shoe-making town in North Northamptonshire, in the Nene valley. Victorian terraces and factory buildings still dominate the older streets. Rushden Lakes, a large shopping and leisure development beside the River Nene, has become a major destination, and the old railway station is now home to a transport museum and heritage line.
Most homes are terraces near the centre, with inter-war and post-war semis and newer estates on the edges. Many terraced houses have steep stairs and a single step at the front, while newer homes are often more level.
Hall Park, close to the town centre, has level paths and gardens, and the riverside at Rushden Lakes offers flat walks. Rushden has no main-line station, so buses to Wellingborough, Kettering and Northampton are important.
Northamptonshire Integrated Care Board plans NHS services, with Kettering General Hospital providing most acute care. Our private home sessions help people recover after discharge.
Many patients want to get back to the High Street, Rushden Lakes or visiting family. We plan sessions around those trips, focusing on stairs, transfers and walking.
The novelist H. E. Bates, author of The Darling Buds of May, was born in Rushden and wrote about the Nene valley countryside around it. Rushden Hall, a Tudor and Jacobean house, stands within Hall Park, and neighbouring Higham Ferrers has a medieval market cross and the remains of Chichele College, founded by Archbishop Henry Chichele. Working men’s clubs and chapels from the shoe-making era still matter to older residents, who often want to get back to them.
