Physiotherapy Services in Selsey
We run the service from Harrow in north-west London; there is no Selsey premises to walk into. Sessions take place in your own home, and the clinician assigned to you may be travelling in from elsewhere. We can only confirm a visit once we know your full postcode and which therapists are free when you get in touch.
Selsey is a seaside town at the southern tip of the Manhood Peninsula in West Sussex, surrounded on three sides by sea. Selsey Bill, its southernmost point, has wide views across the Channel towards the Isle of Wight.
The town's fishing fleet still lands crabs and lobsters on East Beach, and the lifeboat station has a long history of rescues. The astronomer Sir Patrick Moore lived in Selsey for decades and is remembered fondly by local residents.
Medmerry, an RSPB reserve created as part of a coastal flood defence scheme, has flat paths through wetland and grassland, ideal for gradual walking practice. Pagham Harbour nature reserve and the medieval church at Church Norton lie just to the north.
Housing includes bungalows, chalets, post-war homes and caravan parks, with many retired residents. The flat terrain makes outdoor walking easier, though sea winds can be strong.
NHS Sussex Integrated Care Board organises local care, and Selsey patients are usually treated at St Richard's Hospital in Chichester. Our home physiotherapy continues their recovery after discharge.
Goals often include walking along East Beach, visiting Medmerry or shopping on the High Street again.
Selsey's tramway, a quirky light railway that once linked the town to Chichester, closed in 1935, but old photographs of its rattling carriages still turn up in local cafés and community displays. The Selsey Lifeboat Day in August, the annual Selsey Festival and crab sandwiches from kiosks near the Lifeboat Station are fixtures of the summer. Many patients set themselves the task of reaching the Bill viewpoint, where benches look out over the Owers rocks and the Nab Tower on the horizon.
