Physiotherapy Services in Stalybridge
We run the service from Harrow in north-west London; there is no Stalybridge premises to walk into. Sessions take place in your own home, and the clinician assigned to you may be travelling in from elsewhere. We can only confirm a visit once we know your full postcode and which therapists are free when you get in touch.
Stalybridge grew around cotton mills in Tameside, on the River Tame at the foot of the Pennines. The Huddersfield Narrow Canal, restored and reopened in 2001, runs right through the town centre, and the Victorian station buffet bar is one of the best known in the country.
Many streets climb steeply from the valley, especially towards Ridge Hill and Millbrook, and stone terraces with steep stairs are common. Newer houses in Copley and Carrbrook may be more level but still often have steps.
Stalybridge station has trains to Manchester, Huddersfield and Leeds, and buses run to Ashton-under-Lyne. The canal towpath and Cheetham Park offer level and gentle walks, while the hills above town provide challenges for stronger walkers.
The Greater Manchester Integrated Care Board oversees NHS care, with Tameside General Hospital in Ashton the main hospital. Our private home physiotherapy continues recovery after discharge.
Many patients want to get back to walking along the canal, visiting the town centre or the hills. We build sessions around those goals, starting with stairs and slopes at home.
Stalybridge has an unexpected claim to fame: the wartime song It’s a Long Way to Tipperary was first performed here in 1912, and a statue of its composer Jack Judge stands in the town centre. Stalybridge Celtic play at Bower Fold on the edge of town, and Armentieres Square, by the canal, is the natural meeting point for a coffee once someone can walk into the centre again.

Specialist care for women through pregnancy, after birth and beyond.

Reducing the risk of falls and improving safe, confident movement at home and in the community.

Assessment and treatment of the pelvic floor to support bladder, bowel and core function.
