Physiotherapy Services in Stocksbridge
We run the service from Harrow in north-west London; there is no Stocksbridge premises to walk into. Sessions take place in your own home, and the clinician assigned to you may be travelling in from elsewhere. We can only confirm a visit once we know your full postcode and which therapists are free when you get in touch.
Stocksbridge is a town in the north-west of the City of Sheffield, set in the narrow valley of the Little Don. It grew around the steelworks founded by Samuel Fox in the nineteenth century.
Fox first made his fortune producing steel frames for umbrellas, and later made steel for many industries. Steelmaking still continues in the valley today.
Manchester Road runs along the valley floor, holding the shops, library and leisure centre. It is the flattest part of town and good for early walks.
Housing climbs steeply up both sides of the valley, often in long terraces. Strong legs and confidence on slopes are central goals for many clients here.
Most surgery for Stocksbridge happens at Sheffield's Northern General or Royal Hallamshire hospitals. Home physiotherapy saves you the trip back into the city.
Underbank Reservoir, just west of the town, has a path around part of its edge. Its gentle route is popular with clients building stamina.
Deepcar lies at the eastern end of the valley, where the Little Don meets the Don. Its streets are also hilly, with steps in many places.
Bolsterstone is a small hilltop village with a church and fine views. The climb up from Stocksbridge is steep and a demanding goal.
Midhopestones and Langsett lie further west towards the Peak District moors. Langsett Reservoir has a popular walking circuit with gentle sections.
Ewden is a small valley to the south with reservoirs and woodland. Homes there are scattered, so indoor practice often comes first.

Assessment and treatment of the pelvic floor to support bladder, bowel and core function.

Supporting people living with or recovering from cancer to rebuild strength and quality of life.

Personalised, evidence-based nutrition and dietetic support delivered in the comfort of your home by an HCPC-registered dietitian.
